Baylor Business School Hosts Ethics Forum

Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business will host the fourth annual Dale P. Jones Business Ethics Forum, "Where Finance Meets Ethics," from Wednesday, Oct. 28, to Friday, Nov. 13.

The forum is held each year to encourage students, faculty, alumni and business leaders to engage in a discussion of today's ethical issues and explore the responsibilities of business professionals faced with ethical dilemmas.

The events, which are free and open to the public, will kickoff with keynote speaker, Jim Zarroli, a business and economy journalist for National Public Radio at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, on the fifth floor of Cashion Academic Center on the Baylor campus.

Zarroli will discuss employment, the stock market, the Federal Reserve System, deregulation, trade and the media. He is a contributor to NPR's On the Media, Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

During the second week of events, Baylor's department of theatre arts will host an ethics drama, The Vorsey Inheritance at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Kayser Auditorium at the Hankamer School of Business.

The play highlights financial and family intrigue, which features the character Edward Vorsey struggling with the decision to either protect his family's interests in a moral crisis involving his family's firm or expose them.

In the third week, Lamar Smith, director of Torchmark Corp., will address the forum at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, on the fifth floor of Cashion Academic Center. Smith is the author of There's More to Life Than the Corner Office, which motivates readers to balance personal fulfillment with career success.

The final event for the forum will feature a finance and ethic panel discussion at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, on the fifth floor of Cashion Academic Center. The panel is composed of Don Chew of Morgan Stanley, Trevor Harris of Columbia University, Michael C. Jensen of Harvard Business School, Jeff Sandefer of Sandefer Capital Partners and the Acton School of Entrepreneurship and Sheridan Titman, of the University of Texas at Austin.
