Grammy Award-winning Men's Choir to Perform at Roxy Grove Hall

Chanticleer, a Grammy Award-winning men's choir, will perform as part of the Distinguished Artist Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in Roxy Grove Hall on the Baylor University campus.

The Distinguished Artist Series is the School of Music's premier guest artist event, with three or four concerts a year.

"We try from year to year to appeal to a variety of student and community tastes and a variety of special interests from within the School of Music," said Dr. William May, dean of the School of Music. "We try to stick to the notion that we are bringing to campus truly distinguished artists."

The choir includes 12 singers. It will perform:

• La Guerre by Clément Janequin

• Éjszaka (Night) and Reggel (Morning) by Gy"rgy Ligeti

• Spring Dreams by Chen Yi

• In time of by Steven Sametz

• Agnus Dei by Michael McGlynn

• Pieces from Sirens by Mason Bates

• El Manisero by Moisés Simmons and arranged by Tania León

Chanticleer has been featured on NBC TV's Today Show and won three Grammy Awards, including one for Best Small Ensemble Performance for Colors of Love and two for a recording of Sir John Tavener's Lamentations and Praises for Classical Best Small Ensemble Performance and for Best Classical Contemporary Composition.

Chanticleer is based in San Francisco and will perform more than 100 concerts in 21 states and several countries during its 2009-2010 season.

The ensemble includes Dylan Hostetter, Michael McNeil, Gregory Peebles, Cortez Mitchell, Alan Reinhardt, Adam Ward, Matthew Curtis, Brian Hinman, Ben Jones, Eric Alatorre, Gabriel Lewis-O'Connor and Jace Wittig.
