Piper Child Development Center

The Piper Center for Family Studies and Child Development welcomes all children from ages two months to five years. The purpose of the Piper CDC is to serve as a laboratory for all the majors in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences including Child and Family Studies, Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, General Family and Consumer Sciences with or without the option to teach, Interior Design and Nutrition. In addition, students from the Schools of Education and Social Work utilize the learning environment.

The center offers an active curriculum that supports children's inquiry into the work around them. Children are encouraged to express ideas through various means of communication including storytelling, art, movement, construction, writing, and interaction with others. In a community of learners, young and old, friendships are formed, knowledge is shared, creativity is nurtured, conflicts are resolved, needs are met, and growth is celebrated.
