Baylor Vision 2012
Baylor's vision for 2012, though continuous with its cherished past, aspires to what few institutions, if any, have ever achieved. Within the course of a decade, Baylor intends to enter the top tier of American universities while reaffirming and deepening its distinctive Christian vision. Baylor will build a faculty and student body to provide leadership in a period of change and conflict. It will strengthen and expand its historic sense of community. It will strengthen and expand its focus on research. In doing all these things, it will take its place among the finest colleges and universities in the world.
These changes have already begun. Within the first year after the launch, Baylor aggressively began strengthening the campus' computer network infrastructure, undertook construction of a landmark science building and focused on hiring top researchers and the brightest scholars from around the world.
The Physics Department is benefitting from this vision
in many ways. The department has moved into the 508,000 square foot, $103 Million
Baylor Sciences Building, and has hired several new faculty
members. A major new strategic planning proposal has been constructed to bring
the department to the next level.
The department will be working on ways to improve the student
experience at Baylor, adding new courses and streamlining the
pathway for students eager to start on a career in Physics.
A combination of first rate faculty and students with state-of-the-art
facilities and a commitment to top-tier research will bring to Baylor an
unprecedented intellectual environment in Physics. The Baylor Physics department
expects to play a leading role in the exciting new vision being forged through the
Baylor 2012 initiative.
