Philosophy Graduate Students Succeed on 2011 Job Market

Daniel Johnson, who will be graduating from the PhD program in August, has taken a tenure-track position at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. Dan will be helping to launch a new major in Philosophy and Religion and will regularly be teaching ethics, Asian philosophy, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of sport.

Janelle Klapauszak has accepted a tenure-track position in a great texts general education honors program called the Torrey Honors Institute at Biola University. Janelle will teach classes in all of the humanities disciplines (philosophy, theology, history, literature)and do Oxford-style 1-on-1 mentoring with students.

Adam Pelser, a fourth-year PhD student, has accepted an offer for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oklahoma. Adam will be joining the OU Philosophy Department as a sabbatical replacement for OU professors Linda Zagzebski and Steve Ellis, and his primary teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of ethics and philosophy of religion. Adam successfully defended his dissertation, "Emotion, Evaluative Perception, and Epistemic Goods," under the direction of Dr. Robert Roberts in May, and he will graduate in August.
