Welcome Reception - Bill Daniel Student Center- Barfield Drawing Room
On Friday afternoon, stop by the Barfield Drawing Room in the Student Center and enjoy snacks, Dr Pepper floats, and casual conversations with university administrators. During this come-and-go event, families may also check-in and receive the schedule of events for the weekend.
History Walks - Bill Daniel Student Center
On Friday afternoon, families are encouraged to experience the history of Baylor through guided tours of campus. These tours, led by current students, will give parents a new perspective on the rich tradition of the university. Along the way, attendees will encounter Baylor Alumni who each have their own stories to tell.
Last Lectures - Bennett Auditorium & Hankamer School of Business- Kayser Auditorium
Inspired by the book, The Last Lecture, four Baylor professors have been invited to give what they deem their most important message to the families of Baylor's students. This event will give parents the opportunity to hear from the world-class faculty, who educate their students, in an environment similar to the classroom experience. Dean Elizabeth Vardaman and Dr. Tom Hanks will be speaking in Bennett Auditorium at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. respectively. Mrs. Tommye Lou Davis and Dr. Blaine McCormick will be speaking in Kayser Auditorium inside the Hankamer School of Business at 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. respectively.
Five of Baylor University's vocal ensembles present their annual fall choral concert for Parent & Family Weekend. Each ensemble, Bella Voce, Concert Choir, Men's Choir, Women's Choir, and A Cappella Choir, will present a short set of selections from a diverse array of genres and style periods. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
Artist Reception & Gallery Talk - Martin Museum of Art- Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center
The Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University will feature a selection of oil paintings by contemporary Texas artist, Sedrick Huckaby. Guided by his family and faith, Huckaby's artistic vision tells the story of his connections with his family members, including his grandmother who recently passed away. A gallery talk and reception for Huckaby will be held at the Martin Museum of Art on October 12, from 5:30-7pm.
After Dark* - Waco Hall
After Dark is an All-University variety show held annually during Parent & Family Weekend. It features top student talent from outstanding solo performances, dance, and stand-up comedy to musical theater. After Dark always proves to be a showcase for Baylor's creative students.
Dessert Party - Founders Mall
On Friday evening, Founders Mall is transformed for the Dessert Party, with tables of delicious desserts, the music of a jazz band, and elegant lighting. The Mall will be softly lit, and parents, families, and students may enjoy a dessert break and visiting around the table. This long-standing tradition is always a favorite of the weekend.
Moonlight Madness - Ferrell Center
Be sure to get to the Ferrell Center to be a part of Baylor's nationally-televised Moonlight Madness Friday evening. Baylor will be one of 14 sites featured during more than four hours of ESPNU's national coverage. Baylor players will participate in slam dunk and 3-point contests, among numerous other activities featuring Brittney Griner, Pierre Jackson, and Brady Heslip. There will also be various giveaways for fans in attendance. It's going to be madness!
State of the University Address* - Waco Hall
Baylor President, Judge Ken Starr, will give a brief presentation to families on Saturday morning in Waco Hall. Parents will hear about Baylor's Strategic Plan and the significant construction that is taking place. The presentation will be followed by a time for questions. A new addition to the weekend, this event will offer a unique interaction with Judge Starr.
Parent-Faculty Coffee - Burleson Quadrangle
One of the many aspects that sets Baylor apart is the faculty's devotion to their students. This is exemplified in Parent-Faculty Coffee where professors give of their own time to make themselves available to families. Hosted in the Burleson Quadrangle on Saturday morning, the coffee allows parents the incredible opportunity to engage their student professors while enjoying coffee, juice, and delicious brunch items.
The Beauty of Baylor - Baylor Campus
Families are invited to participate in guided tours of some of the incredible Baylor facilities. The tours will run on Saturday afternoon. This is a wonderful chance to see some of the beauty of Baylor's campus.
Exploring Waco - The City of Waco
Learn more about the city in which Baylor is located by taking advantage of the wide variety of Waco attractions. Take advantage of discounts offered by local businesses and restaurants such as the Dr Pepper Museum and Oso's Frozen Yogurt!
Baylor vs. TCU* - Floyd Casey Stadium
Come enjoy a football game in Baylor's Floyd Casey Stadium as the Bears take on TCU.
