Performance Opportunities

Baylor string students have numerous opportunities for performance every semester as part of the string curriculum. Juried performances for string faculty take place twice per semester.

All MM, BM and BME string students are required to perform solo literature at least once every semester on a String Music Hour, a weekly concert attended by all string students. Also, each semester string students are nominated by faculty to perform on School of Music convocations, and annually on the Dean's Honor Concert. Junior, Senior, and Graduate recitals are an important part of our curriculum. Many students also take advantage of opportunities to perform additional special recitals outside of the degree program requirements.

Additionally, students perform in string chamber music concerts twice per semester and several times per semester with the Baylor orchestras. Baylor also holds a yearly concerto competition providing winners the opportunity to perform a complete concerto with the Baylor Symphony.

String students at Baylor University also have the opportunity to hear and work with the finest musicians in the world through master classes and clinics. Visiting artists are made possible through both Baylor University funding and the generosity of the Meadows Foundation, Inc. of Dallas , Texas.
