Banner-Church Music

The Center for Christian Music Studies at Baylor University reaches out to people around the world by providing opportunities that foster cross cultural to engagement in music. Students who participate in these experiences learn first hand the power of music to break down barriers and build bridges and to give, share, and receive aspects of community in the culture and faith of other nations.

From May 18 to June 1, 2014, a team of 26 Baylor faculty, staff, and students will be going to Sabah, Malaysia, to connect with local church musicians to encourage, teach, and strengthen them in their ministry contexts. This trip will build upon the relationships established during a previous trip in 2012and will also create new ones. The team will be visiting multiple towns and cities and presenting workshops in many areas of church music including guitar, keyboard, voice, song leading, song selection, and music reading skills. These workshops are designed to equip people in their service to their local churches. The team will also be sharing the gift of song with a choral repertoire including music from Malaysia and other countries. Follow along with the team before, during, and after the trip at their blog: baylormusicmissions2014@wordpress.com.
