Russell Gavin is Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education at Baylor University. His duties at Baylor include teaching undergraduate and graduate music education courses, supervising student teachers, and assisting with the University Bands. Dr. Gavin holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from Florida State University, a Master of Music in Euphonium Performance from the University of Notre Dame, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Auburn University. His publications have appeared in the Journal of Research in Music Education, the International Journal of Music Education, Psychology of Music, the Journal of Music Teacher Education, Southwestern Musician, and the Florida Music Director. He has presented educational clinics at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, as well as the state music education/band conferences of Connecticut (featured clinician), Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Nevada, and Texas. In addition to his duties at Baylor, Dr. Gavin is Director of the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps and an Educational Artist/Clinician for Jupiter Band Instruments.
