Dr. ROBIN WALLACE is Professor of Musicology at Baylor University, an appointment that commenced in August of 2003. Dr. Wallace received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College, where he studied piano with Thomas Simons and Leon Bates. He holds a Master of Philosophy and a Doctor of Philosophy in Music History from Yale University.

He is the author of Beethoven's Critics (Cambridge University Press, 1986), a widely praised, groundbreaking study of the critical reception of Beethoven's music, is co-editor and translator for the series The Critical Reception of Beethoven's Compositions by his German Contemporaries, and has published articles and reviews in Music and Letters, The Journal of Musicology, The Journal of Musicological Research, Beethoven Forum and Music Library Association Notes. He is currently writing a music appreciation textbook for Oxford University Press. He has a long-standing interest in questions of musical aesthetics, musical expression, and intellectual history.

Before coming to Baylor, Dr. Wallace taught at the Petrie School of Music at Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He has also held teaching appointments at Yale, California State University at Long Beach, Scripps College, and Concordia University. He is a past president of the Southeast Chapter of the American Musicological Society.

In addition to being a collaborative pianist, he is also an accomplished harpsichord and recorder player, as well as a composer.
