the Master of Music in Music Education at Baylor University
The MM in Music Education from the Baylor University School of Music offers a practice-oriented degree designed to deepen understanding of teaching and learning in music, while providing opportunity to put those principles into practice. Led by specialists in Band, Choir, Orchestra, and General Music, the degree allows you to focus on advanced studies in your chosen specialty, while providing insight into the larger arena of music education. This degree is designed for those who have teaching certification in music. The degree is not designed to prepare you for certification. With the MM in Music Education at Baylor University, you will Master the art of Music teaching.

Financial Assistance Available:
A three-for-one tuition remission program is available for qualified applicants. This program allows for completion of the 30-hour degree with the candidate financially responsible for only 10 hours of tuition payment.
A limited number of half-time teaching positions are available through a partnership with Waco ISD. The materials of those admitted to the program will be forwarded to Waco ISD for consideration. Half-time salary, full benefits, and years toward retirement are included in the compensation package.
School of Music Scholarships
Scholarship money is available through the School of Music. Scholarship awards carry an expectation of ensemble participation, and may preclude the ability to hold a teaching position through our WISD partnership. An audition may be required, in addition to admission materials.

Coaching and Teaching Opportunities
Numerous opportunities for teaching private lessons and coaching are available through the Baylor String Project, Waco ISD, and as a privately contracted instructor at many of the public and private schools in the greater Waco area. Contact the Music Education faculty members to find out more.
Texas Tuition Equalization Grant
The TEG program is provided by the State Legislature, through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, to help eligible students defray the cost of attending a private, accredited college or university in Texas. To be eligible, the student must be a resident of Texas and meet the Coordinating Board's criteria for need-based financial aid. Other Sources of Funding
Many graduate students also receive other resources for funding their education at Baylor University. Examples of such sources include work study programs, Stafford loans, private scholarships and private loans.
