Dr. Rick Espinosa
Assistant Director of Bands
Rick Espinosa continues to serve as Assistant Director of Bands and Associate Director of Athletic Bands within the Baylor School of Music. Prior to his appointment to the Baylor University faculty, he served as graduate conductor of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Brass Ensemble at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in wind conducting, studying with Dr. Thomas Lee. Additionally, Dr. Espinosa holds a Master of Music degree in wind conducting from UCLA and a Bachelor of Music degree in composition from California State University, Los Angeles.
Dr. Espinosa has served in trumpet instruction and band leadership roles for the UCLA Marching Band, the Pasadena City College Lancer Marching Band, and the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as marching instructor for various California high school bands. As a composer and arranger, Dr. Espinosa has varied works scored for brass quintet, mixed choir, solo tuba, wind ensemble, electronics, saxophone duet, and oboe, horn, choir, and strings. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Espinosa enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle.
