British Couple to Perform Play in Chapel-Forum on Jan. 17

January 15, 1996

World renown British actors Sylvia Read and William Fry will perform "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Jericho" during Baylor University's Chapel-Forum at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Waco Hall.
This is the third performance the couple will have given at Baylor's Chapel-Forum since 1990. In 1990, the couple performed a short piece, "Were You There?" and in 1992 performed, "To Be A Pilgrim," a sequence of scenes and stories of the Christian journey.
In 1992, the Bill Daniel Student Center and the Armstrong Browning Library sponsored the couple's performance, "Under Milk Wood," a play by Dylan Thomas.
Read and Fry have been on the road for 30 years with their two-person presentations of English literature masterpieces. They have given thousands of performances together and regularly perform at universities, theaters and churches all over Britain, in Western Europe, East Africa and the United States. They have also played in larger productions in London theaters and on television.
Read and Fry's book, "Christian Theatre: A Manual for Church Groups," is published by Eyre and Spottiswoode, the official British publishers of the King James Bible, and has been adopted as a foundation text by the Theological School of Drew University, Madison, N.J., and by at Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C.
