Christian Guitarist to Perform in Chapel-Forum Sept. 18

Alvaro Sanchez, a renowned Christian classical guitarist, will perform during Baylor University's Chapel-Forum at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in Waco Hall.
Sanchez became interested in classical music at a young age and spent much of his youth entertaining and developing his talent. He studied Classical guitar, Colombian music and folklore dances while attended the Luis A. Calvo Academy in Bogota, Colombia.
Sanchez has entertained audiences in countries around the world including special performances at the "Pavilion of Promise" at EXPO-SEVILLE '92 in Spain, as a soloist with the British Broadcasting Company Symphony Orchestra of London, and as a soloist with the Wesley String Ensemble in Singapore.
His career has been marked by outstanding achievements. He was the winner of the Concurso de la Cancion Francesa (a French Song contest) in 1985 and the Colombian folklore-culture contest as an instrumental soloist in 1987. He was also given a special invitation by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry to participate in the International French-Latin Festival in Paris.
Sanchez has been described as one of the most remarkable and interpretive classical guitarists of his generation. He has recorded with the CFNI Chamber Orchestra.
