September 11, 1995

WACO, Texas - Baylor University's Department of Educational Administration will host the first in a series of "Leadership Luncheons" from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the VIP Room of Ferrell Center. The luncheon will feature Paul Sadler, Texas Rep. and Chair of the House Committee on Public Education, who will speak on education reform and code revisions with regard to the Texas Legislature.
Sadler, who is a Baylor Law School graduate and practicing attorney in Henderson, Texas, provided leadership to the massive rewriting of the Texas Education Code and a number of education reform measures now being implemented in the public schools of Texas.
"Rep. Sadler is very frank about educational issues and gracious with his time, particularly with educators," said Dr. James Williamson, interim chair of Baylor's Department of Educational Administration and the Fred and Edith Hale Professor in Education.
The luncheon, which is open to the public, is sponsored by Baylor's Department of Educational Administration and the Fred and Edith Hale Center for Educational Leaders.
The Fred and Edith Hale Professorship and Center for Educational Leaders is funded through an endowment from Fred M. Hale of Henderson. The primary purpose for the Professorship and Center is to conduct research and to develop creative strategies for preparing new visionary leaders for American public education.
The cost of luncheon tickets is $11. For tickets or more information about the luncheon, call the Department of Educational Administration at (817) 755-3117.
