Baylor University To Test Emergency Notification Systems TuesdayJuly 2, 2010
Baylor University will test its outdoor public address and indoor voice evacuation systems at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 6.
The public is being notified so that the test will not be confused with an actual emergency.
The outdoor test will include all buildings on the main Baylor campus, including the Clifton Robinson Tower, Floyd Casey Football Stadium and the Hart-Patterson Track and Field Complex in Waco. The Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas will not be included.
The test of the indoor evacuation system will be carried out in all residence halls, Moody Library, East Parking Garage, McMullen-Connally Faculty Center and the Baylor Sciences Building, Hankamer School of Business, Draper, Burleson, Old Main and Sid Richardson buildings.
The outdoor and indoor systems are part of the university's overall emergency preparedness effort. In the event of an actual emergency, the systems can immediately be activated to communicate evacuation information to the campus. The systems are tested at regular intervals to ensure they are in full working order.
Questions about the test of the emergency notification systems can be directed to the Office of Risk Management, (254) 710-4586.
