The Baylor University Symphonic Band will present its final program of the school year at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, in Jones Concert Hall. The ensemble performs under Barry Kraus, assistant director of ensembles and associate director of bands. Guest conductors Isaiah Odajima, Kevin Sedatole and Ryan Smith also will make appearances.

The first half of the concert will feature band transcriptions of music by Johann Sebastian Bach ("O Sacred Head Now Wounded" from his Three Chorale Preludes) and Antonín Dvorák (the Slavonic Dance, Op. 72, No. 7). The band also will perform Morton Gould's Ballad for Band and an engaging march, l'Inglesina (The Little English Girl), by Davide Delle Cese.

Following intermission, the Symphonic Band will perform Vincent Persichetti's Symphony No. 6 for Band and then conclude the program with Morning Star, a lyrical work from 1997 by David Maslanka.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Baylor School of Music at 710-3991.
