The Baylor University Symphony Orchestra concert will feature Heather Martin, a winner of last year's Baylor Concerto Competition, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
Martin, a junior from Midland, will perform Jean Françaix's "Tema con Variazioni" for clarinet and eleven strings. She will be joined by members of the Baylor Chamber Orchestra. Also on the program will be the "Leonore Overture No. 3" by Ludwig van Beethoven. The final work of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, his Symphony No. 6 (known as the "Pathétique"), will close the program.
This concert, under the direction of Stephen Heyde, director of orchestral studies and Conductor-in-Residence, is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Baylor School of Music at 710-3991.
