Commercial Artists to Show Work Jan. 18-Feb. 12

January 17, 2000

Three successful commercial artists will show their work as part of Illustration and Design, an art exhibit at the University Art Gallery in the Hooper-Schaefer Fine Arts Center on the Baylor University campus. The exhibit opens tomorrow and will run until Feb. 12.
Featured in the exhibit will be more than 30 works by Marc Burckhardt, a freelance illustrator from Austin whose clients include Texas Monthly and Pepsi; Paul Soupiset, art director at Tool Box Studios in San Antonio; and Tim Hale of Fossil Design in Richardson.
"This will be an interesting but different show. However, we try to run the gamut of every different type of art medium in the exhibits we sponsor," said Denny Pickett, director of the University Art Gallery and visiting assistant professor of art at Baylor. "We also have an extremely strong graphic arts department and this kind of show will benefit those students. They will be able to see what some productive graphic artists are doing."
The University Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and during matinee and evening performances of Baylor Theater. There is no admission charge.
