The Baylor/Waco Piano Competition will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, on the Baylor University campus.
The Baylor/Waco Piano Competition, sponsored by the Baylor School of Music, is now in its 20th year. It provides an annual opportunity for talented young pianists in the five-state area to gain valuable experience and recognition. There are also cash prizes awarded to the top two winners in each of the five divisions.
This year's event will feature a total of 49 contestants, grades seven through 12, who will represent the independent piano studios of 33 different teachers from across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
The Baylor/Waco Piano Competition is comprised of two main categories--the piano solo competition and the piano concerto competition, and each of those categories consists of various divisions, depending upon the age of the contestant.
Winners in every division will be announced at an awards presentation ceremony at
1:45 p.m. in Meadows Recital Hall.
All Baylor/Waco Piano Competition activities are free and open to the public. For more information, call 710-1417.
