Career Services to Offer Free Employment Searches

August 26, 1997

WACO, Texas - Beginning this fall, Baylor University Career Services will offer its employment search services free of charge to all Baylor students and alumni.
Students and alumni previously had to pay a $25 fee for certain uses of the center, which included job interviews and resume referrals. Career Services Director John Boyd said he did not want students or alumni to pay an additional fee to use the center.
"We are a service function and we want to help people," Boyd said. "We want to provide students and alumni with something to help them start their career with no additional cost."
Besides providing interviews with prospective companies and resume development, the center offers free career seminars throughout the fall and spring semesters. These seminars cover topics such as resume writing, interviewing techniques, job searches, mock interviews and career fairs. Participants also have access to the center's resource library that has information on companies and available jobs throughout the country.
The center also has moved to the university's Clifton Robinson Tower which has allowed the center to expand its facilities. The center now offers 14 professional interview rooms with a lounge for recruiters.
