Baylor to Host Texas Leadership Conference

July 15, 1997

The 47th annual Texas Leadership Conference of the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) will be held July 23-26 on the Baylor University campus.
Administrator Joy Fenner of WMU said approximately 2,000 people are expected to attend the conference.
This year's theme, "Come Go With Me," will be carried in both of two sessions. The first session will run Wednesday through Friday and session two will be held on Friday and Saturday. According to Fenner, this year's theme recognizes an emphasis on ministry and is a reflection on the Book of Luke and the way the disciple ministered to people.
Speakers at the conference this year will include Jack and Phyllis Poe, two Oklahoma City chaplains who have helped many touched by the 1995 bombing in that city, as well as other state, home and foreign missionaries.
The conferences are designed to offer leadership training in order to mobilize missions. In addition to training, the conference will offer special interest seminars such as working with school-age children, music workshops, prayer and missions challenges. Special language training will be offered for Spanish, English, Korean and Chinese languages. This year's conference will also have a special course on multicultural English.
