Lecture on German Fears to Be Given Feb. 20

February 19, 1997

Dr. Rasma Lazda-Cazers, assistant professor of German at Baylor University, will speak on "Xenophobia in Germany" at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in Room 201 of the W.R. Poage Legislative Library Center.
Xenophobia, or fear of foreigners, is not uncommon in Germany. According to Lazda-Cazers, her discussion will range from who Germans consider to be foreigners and what is citizenship in Germany to comparing these differences with the United States.
"This topic tends to get controversial, but I still want everyone to come," said Lazda-Cazers, who was raised in Germany. She has college degrees from Germany and received her doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
The lecture series is sponsored by the Council for International Education, and features a different speaker every Thursday at 4 p.m.
