Baylor's School of Education Hosts Distinguished Lecture and Community Conversation

WACO, Texas (Feb. 13, 2013) - Paul E. Lingenfelter, Ph.D., a respected leader in higher education, will be the keynote speaker for this year's Distinguished Lecture Series hosted by the Baylor University School of Education. The lecture series will take place Feb. 14 and 15.
Lingenfelter is the president of the State Higher Education Executive Officers, where he is working to bring greater participation in higher education and improved relationships between students and educators. He previously served as a vice president of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and as the deputy director for fiscal affairs for the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
"We are so pleased to have Dr. Lingenfelter visit Baylor," said Jon M. Engelhardt, Ph.D., dean of the School of Education. "These are important times of change for education in the U.S. and all levels - K-12 and higher education. Dr. Lingenfelter has the broad perspective to help us all understand the challenges we face as we move further into this new century."
The lectures are free and open to the public. Their information is as follows:
Feb. 14: American Education Second to None: How Must We Change to Meet 21st Century Imperatives?
This academic address will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Bennett Auditorium in Draper Academic Building, 1420 S. Seventh St.
Feb. 15: A Conversation with Paul Lingenfelter About Changing Demands on Educators in the Community
This community presentation and discussion will take place at 8:30 a.m. in the Community Auditorium at the Education Service Center of Region 12, located in Waco at 2101 W. Loop 340.
