Suzy Weems, Ph.D.
Dr. Suzy Weems is professor of nutrition sciences in the department of family and consumer sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has professional experience in wellness, weight management, diabetes care, eating disorders, cardiovascular health and sports dietetics. Her experience in sports nutrition has been with athletes at the pediatric level to those at NCAA Division I premiere teams to improve player performance. Weems also is a consulting dietician for hospitals and extended-care facilities across Texas in various geographical, cultural, ethnic and socio-economic areas.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Baylor University and a master's and Ph.D. in nutrition from Texas Tech University. She is registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration on a national level as well as licensed as a dietician in Texas. She holds a board certification as a specialist in sports dietetics, and has served as chair of the American Dietetic Association's legislative and public policy committee and as past president of the Texas Dietetic Association.
