TxDOT to Close University Parks Drive Overnight Oct. 5-15 for I-35 Overpass Construction

WACO, Texas (Oct. 5, 2021) - Beginning tonight, TxDOT plans to close all east and westbound lanes of University Parks Drive under I-35 nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to continue reconstructing the northbound overpass. The overnight closures will occur nightly from Tuesday, Oct. 5, through Friday, Oct. 15.

We do not anticipate that this work will impact Baylor football game at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at McLane Stadium.

To perform this work safely:

• Westbound traffic (from campus toward downtown) will be directed to the I-35 northbound frontage road where drivers can turn around at MLK Boulevard.
• Eastbound traffic (from downtown toward the Ferrell Center) will be directed to the I-35 southbound frontage road where drivers can turn around at 5th Street.

Additionally, crews will close the north to south U-turn at University Parks Drive daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, to Friday, Oct. 15. Drivers will still be able to turn around at the signalized intersection during this closure.
