The desire to provide enhanced research assistance and to launch selected Texas Collection-sponsored public programming suggests several needs as service expands to constituents. Your funded endowment in special areas or in the following specific needs will create much additional interest and increased distinction to The Texas Collection as the university strives to fulfill the mission of the Baylor Library System.

Endowed Imprint Publication Series

The Texas Collection seeks funding to support the reprint publication, in several discrete topical series, of rare Texana books, diaries, and other important primary sources that are in the public domain. The goal would be to publish at least two books per year in each series. $ 1000,000/series.

Research Fellowships

Competitive fellowships provide travel and other stipends and research expenses for scholars who need to spend at least a week in intensive study in The Texas Collection. They are open to writers of doctoral dissertations from other universities, faculty members at other universities, and other researchers unable to access The Texas Collection holdings via the web site. $ 3,000 each year.

Technology Enhancements

Endowments in technology enhancements would provide:

• new microfilm readers and printers which must be replaced at least every 10 years, or
• a microfilm camera with digitization interface, needed to convert rare materials to stable form for preservation, or
• a modern photographic darkroom and laboratory, including developing equipment and state-of-the-art camera, to provide copy prints of The Texas Collection photographs for researchers and publishers, and conversely to make copies of available historic photographs for The Texas Collection's own holdings.

Current Endowments

Guy B. Harrison Memorial Endowment: The largest, oldest, and most generally structured of the library's funds. Receives honorary and memorial gifts and other undesignated contributions to The Texas Collection. Used for purchase of significant new materials and for projects directed toward the overall enhancement of the library.

Guy B. Harrison Texas Collection-Slay Family Endowment: Traditionally applied to purchases related to the boundaries of the state and certain other types of materials; may also be used for general acquisitions.

Jim Dan Hill Memorial Endowment: Dedicated to the acquisition of works concerning the Texas Navy and the Gulf Coast region of Texas.

Jimmye S. and Helen Smith Hillman Endowment: Dedicated to facilitating a broader understanding of the historical impact of Baptist missions and educational institutions in Latin America, and selected individuals and families involved in those missions.

Keeth Family Fund: Provided funds for construction of the exhibit case and contributes to its maintenance and furnishings.

Frances C. Poage Map Fund: Devoted to the enhancement of the cartographic collections.

Robert L. Reese Memorial Fund: Supports acquisition of materials concerning the history of Waco.

Stephen Hubby Slay Endowment: Funds the purchase of significant materials concerning Texas during the Civil War and Reconstruction periods.

Sparkman Family Fund for Acquisitions: Dedicated to the acquisition of works of fine printing and bookcraft.
