Java City Open on Garden Level of Moody Library

Sept. 1, 2003

Moody Memorial Library's new cafe, Java City, serves gourmet coffees, fruit smoothies, sandwiches and desserts. The cafe opened in the spring of 2003 on the garden level of the library. The cafe features new furniture and lighting, a trendy decor, coffee bar, laptop outlets and seating in the Harvey Garden, which was paved with red brick. The garden also includes a redwood planter with seating, new plants and a drip irrigation system, and a stage available for entertainment. Baylor Dining Services (ARAMARK), the Schumacher Foundation of Dover, Mass., and the library funded the project. Java City provides a convenient and safe place for students who need a quick bite to eat or a study break during the late hours. Regular hours for the cafe are 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Java City is closed on Saturdays. Holiday hours will be posted.
