Baylor Journalism
A place to grow, learn, and find your calling
Since 1899, the Department of Journalism has been educating writers, editors, photographers and public relations practitioners who shape and change the world through written and graphic communications. We do this through our core values:
An ACEJMC Accredited Journalism Department
To ensure the highest standards in journalism education, we have done the work required to become one of some 110 U.S. college journalism departments accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Small classes
Our foundational courses in writing and editing are taught in classes comprised of 15 students and a professor. Each student has their own computer, allowing more personal instruction. Your professor will know your name.
Highly qualified faculty
In addition to their academic credentials, Baylor journalism professors have professional experience in their field. They will not only teach theory, they will share what they have done. All of our classes are taught by professors, not graduate students.
Diverse research
Journalism faculty and students take a variety of approaches to scholarship with interests in topic areas including minorities and media, media and civil society, media and religion, new communication technologies, media and politics, documentary methods and journalism history. Professors have published and presented research around the globe. Our students are involved in research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
