Apple iPhone and 802.1X Authentication

October 8, 2007
Currently, the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices do not support 802.1X authentication, which Baylor uses for authentication. Baylor's 802.1X authentication allows our wireless network, Airbear, to be extremely secure, and prevents unauthorized users from accessing the network. Baylor was one of the first adopters of 802.1X, and many other universities and businesses use this standard.

Apple elected not to include 802.1X support in the current version of the iPhone and iPod Touch operating systems, but have said that they may add the functionality at a later time. Keep checking the Airbear website for updates and news regarding this functionality.
