On Tuesday morning, May 27, 2008, a central component of our telephone infrastructure malfunctioned as a result the severe thunderstorm that passed through Waco on May 13, 2008.

Maintenance on network hardware servicing Baylor's Datacenter and Internet connection is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28 from 6 p.m.-7pm. During this time there will be intermittent periods where access to Baylor servers and the Internet will be unavailable.

On Saturday morning, May 31, various on-line services (see list below*) will be down for approximately 4 hours beginning at 9:00 a.m. These services are expected to be available again by 1:00 p.m.

Servers impacting the Trax Financial system, BearQuest, Khalix and COEUS will be will be brought down for approximately 30 minutes for critical maintenance Thursday evening May 8 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Now that technology is so easily accessible even when traveling, keeping track of Baylor information and keeping in touch with campus activities can be done via internet access. This ability also means that important information must be protected behind additional layers of security. Security can mean protecting your computer and as well as the data stored on the computer, or it may mean protecting data on servers located at the university.
