Disabling Java on Systems Running Mac OS

To secure computers running a version of the Mac OS prior to Mac OS X 10.6, Java must be disabled at the browser level. Follow the steps below to disable Java in any browser that you use on your system.


Safari

Step 1: Select "Preferences" from the Safari menu at the top left of the screen and go to the "Security" tab.

Step 2: Uncheck "Enable Java".


Firefox

Step 1: Select "Add-ons" from the Tools menu at the top of the screen and go to the "Plugins" tab.

Step 2: Disable all Java Plugins listed.


Chrome

Step 1: Type "chrome://plugins" in Chrome's address bar.

Step 2: Click the "disable" link below any java plugin listed.
