Students should select Baylor as the score recipient when completing the online CLEP registration. The fee for all CLEP exams is $80 which you will pay for and receive a voucher via the CLEP website http://clep.collegeboard.org. You must bring this voucher with you when you test. In addition, for tests administered by Baylor, there is an administrative fee of $30 payable by check or cash, which you will pay in our office on the day you test.
**Special Notice: For the month of September 2016 CLEP is offering students $10 off the $80 exam fee for all CLEP exams. When checking out at the end of the exam registration process, students should enter the promo code CLEPSEPT and $10 will be subtracted from the purchase of each exam.**
Currently enrolled Baylor students must receive a permission slip from the Chair of the course department and if you are a senior, receive a petition to take credit by exam during your last 30 hours. Other Credit by Exam policies are available at http://www.baylor.edu/irt/cbe_policies.
Baylor does not require the optional essay section on any of the CLEP exams.
As of Oct. 17, 2014, the CLEP retest policy was changed to allow test-takers to retest three months after the last exam administration, as opposed to six months. Please note that this policy is in effect only for students who test on Oct. 17, 2014, or after.
The table below indicates the exams that have been approved for receiving credit at Baylor and the minimum scores required. CLEP exams are administered by appointment only. To schedule a testing date at Baylor University, contact the Office of Institutional Research and Testing Services at 254-710-2061. Note that the number of credit hours for each Baylor course is denoted by the second digit of the course number. Therefore, Political Science 1305 is a 3-hour course, while Biology 1401 is a 4-hour course.
If a test is not listed, then Baylor does not accept that exam for credit. We do not issue "elective credit" for credit by exam.
