Dr. Anne M Andrews, PhD, RD, CSSD

Dr. Andrews is the Research Director at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Anne received her BS in Food Service Management from Iowa State University and PhD in Nutrition from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. After completing the U.S. Army Dietetic Internship, Anne started her nutrition career as the Chief, Clinical Dietetics Branch at Reynolds Army Community Hospital, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During her time at Fort Sill, she deployed to Haiti in support of Operation Uphold Democracy as the Chief, Nutrition Care Division and the Nutrition Consultant to the United Nations Surgeon. She then worked in a variety of specialty areas including health promotion, food service management, and clinical dietetics at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. For 4 years, Anne was the Program Manager for the Department of Defense's Nutrition Management Information System. She supported military nutrition departments around the world in the use of automation. After obtaining her PhD in 2003, Anne conducted a variety of research projects affecting the care of military Service Members. Several of her research projects focus on body composition and metabolic issues of Service Members with amputations as they recover and return to their desired fitness levels.
