Teaching Awards

This award, granted biannually, honors graduate student Teachers of Record who were able to balance their own studies and responsibilities while demonstrating excellence as classroom instructors. Recipients are given the opportunity to attend teaching conferences, as well as a plaque commemorating their achievement.

2015-16 Winners

Grace Aquino is a doctoral student in Environmental Science. A former student of hers commended her "incredible ability to communicate to students. She went above and beyond and conveyed concepts and labs with clarity."

Olivia Carroll is a doctoral student in Political Science. "Olivia is a naturally gifted teacher [...] She was able to fully control the classroom and demand cooperation from the students, but she did it with a sense of joy and good humor," said Dr. Ivy Hamerly.

Nathan Cartagena is a doctoral student in Philosophy. Dr. Alexandar Pruss remarked that Nathan's classroom was one "of students who were truly learning. And that was because it was a classroom where the instructor was doing a truly excellent job teaching."

Megan Haggard is a doctoral student in Psychology. Dr. Wade Rowatt said "Megan is a thoughtful teacher with a unique ability to connect with students."

Michael Milovich is a doctoral student in Information Systems. Dr. Tim Kayworth said "His friendly outgoing personality is an obvious asset in the classroom along with his years of work experience that helps connect students with real-world business concepts."
