O.T. Hayward Memorial Banquet

Nov. 8, 2011

The Baylor Geology Department will be hosting a Celebration of Our Times Shared with Dr. O.T. Hayward on Thursday, November 03, 2011 at Nelson's Banquet Hall in Downtown Waco (414 Franklin Ave., parking lot off of 4th street) from 6:00-8:00PM. The cost of the meal is $14.00 each and can be paid in advance or at the event by cash or check (no credit or debit cards). We need an RSVP by Oct. 28th (email or written) to paulette_penney@baylor.edu or erin_stinchcomb@baylor.edufor the caterer.

Dr. Hayward had a profound influence on the Baylor Geology Department and on many of the students that who were fortunate enough to take his classes. He will be remembered by each of us in a different way, although many of our memories will be shared. We wish to share those memories with all who attend. To that end, the committee is asking you to search your memories and old boxes. Specifically, we are looking for the following items;

• Photographs or slides of Dr. Hayward teaching or in the field

• Sketches by Dr. Hayward

• Sketches made by you in the field with Dr. Hayward's commentary

• Old BGS Bulletins with photos of, or sketches by, Dr. Hayward

• Anecdotes from your time as a student or friend

• Written remembrances, or tributes, of Dr. Hayward

If you have photographs, slides, sketches, and old BGS Bulletins, the committee asks that you send the originals to Ed Jakubowski at the address below, where they will be scanned and returned to you. Alternately, you can scan them at high resolution in an image format (jpg, gif, bmp) and send via email. Remembrances can be emailed, preferably in Word format, to OTHaywardMemorial@earthlink.net and copied to Peter.Allen@baylor.edu. Remembrances can be as short as a couple of sentences to a couple of pages. The information will be used for the Celebration. If the committee receives enough photographs, slides, and sketches, we will prepare a slide show for November.
