The Child and Family Studies program focuses on the development of families and individuals as they grow and change. Emphasis is placed on the strengths of individuals and families as seen in diverse systems and settings. Our program equips students with knowledge, skills and ethics--both in the classroom and in the field--to serve and lead societal opportunities to empower families.
Apparel Design & Product Development
The Fashion Design curriculum focus is to help students develop into professionals that will be successful in both the domestic and international market place. Fashion design is the development of apparel and textile products that meet the needs of specific consumer markets. Students develop an understanding of these needs through the study of consumer behavior, demographics and psychographics.
Fashion Merchandising encompasses apparel and softgoods retailing and manufacturing processes in a global marketplace. Retail buying, trend analysis, forecasting, textile science, visual display and promotion are a part of the field as well.
