In this major, your classroom could be a forest, a park, a trash lab, a marsh or even a waterfall. The department offers numerous opportunities for travel and field studies including local sites such as Lake Waco, Waco Wetlands and Lake Brazos as well as trips to the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. Such experiences are available for course credit during the summer as well as the fall and spring semesters.
Both undergraduate and graduate students participate in refereed publication, and win awards for research presentations at regional and national professional meetings. As part of the department's culture, research allows you to go deeper on a topic you're passionate about while utilizing investigative methods under faculty guidance.
Addressing complex global environmental problems requires an interdisciplinary approach. That's why Environmental Science at Baylor integrates into one department core areas of science. This creates an atmosphere of cooperation and exchange among fields that share similar methods and approaches.
