2009 Winners

Recognized at a ceremony on March 26, the prize winners read their work and received award certificates and will receive cash prizes. The prize winners also were invited to a luncheon with the Festival Poets.

The 2009 winners are:

REID ECHOLS for "Los Muertos" won both The Academy of American Poets Prize and the Virginia Beall Ball Poetry Prize.

AMY ROBERTS for "Deluge" is the winner of The Poetry In The Arts, Inc., Dr. Robert G. Collmer Prize;

DANIEL STEWART for "After the Battle of the Exodus, A Song of Pharaoh's Army" is the winner of The Poetry in the Arts, Inc., Dr. James Barcus Prize;

PETER EPPS for "Disclosure" is the winner of The Poetry in the Arts, Inc., Mr. Kent H. Keeth Prize (Poetry in the Arts, Inc. prizes are given by Mrs. Peggy Lynch);

BRIAN SCHALLENBERG for "The Jackal's Bell" is the winner of The House of Poetry Prize ;

ROBERT HAMILTON for "Dreams of the New Jerusalem" (3rd Place), JAMES YARBROUGH for "Room 123" (2nd Place), and REID ECHOLS for "Neutral" (1st Place) are the winners of the three Dorothy Scarborough Fiction Awards given by the Baylor Alumni Association.
