Alexander Hall houses approximately 141 men as part of the Honors Residential College. Students must be in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (a.k.a., "BIC"), Honors Program, University Scholars or Great Texts program in order to request this building.

A full-time professional Hall Director lives in Memorial and leads the hall staff.
Students must apply to be a member of the HRC.

  • Mail Services will mail your box information to you in early to mid-August.


  • The majority of bathrooms are suite style, although there are a few private bathrooms and cove (i.e., small community) bathrooms. The bathrooms have showers, sinks, medicine cabinets and toilets. Housekeeping cleans the cove bathrooms only.


  • There is one closet per resident in each room. The closet is approximately 32" wide by 32" deep with one shelf and one clothes rod the width of the closet. Most residents also have a storage area above their closets that is 32" deep by 32" wide and 25" high.


  • Residents may bring personal computers. Each resident is provided with one high-speed Ethernet data port to connect personal computers to the residential network. For more information on residential technology offerings, please visit

Dining Options

  • There are 4 dining options in the residence halls (Brooks College, Collins, Memorial, and Penland) and a food court available with declining balance or cash payment options in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
  • Java City, located on the garden level of Moody Memorial Library, serves sandwiches and coffee for declining balance or cash payment.
  • The Seasons Sushi is located in the North Village Community Center and provides made to order sushi favorites.
  • Atrium Cafe in the Baylor Science Building.
  • All incoming freshmen are required to purchase a minimum 11-meal plan.


  • There is elevator access to each floor.


  • All floors are covered with neutral vinyl tile.
  • You may bring your own carpet, or you may order carpet during the summer at Collegiate Bed Loft Company. Information about this option will be sent to your home. Your purchased carpet will be in your room when you arrive in August; however, you will have to unroll, cut and place the carpet yourself. Carpet tape cannot be used.
  • You may check out brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners from the hall office.


  • Each room is furnished with a matching standard twin bed (requiring standard size linens), desk, chair, and dresser for each resident. All furniture is movable, but must remain in the room and not be dismantled.
  • The beds have springs that are adjustable into the headboard and footboard for 11 variable heights ranging from the lowest residential to junior loft height. Upon move-out, the beds must be returned to their original residential height.
  • Desks are 42" wide and 24" deep, and have four drawers, a center drawer with computer tray front, and bookshelf that sit 19.5" above the desktop. The bookshelf has a built-in light for the desktop.
  • Each dresser is 37" wide by 20" deep and 40" tall with four drawers.
  • Each resident also has a bulletin board measuring 30.5" x 20" and a pegboard measuring 43" x 38".

Kitchen Facilities

  • Full kitchen facilities are located on each floor with a range, oven, and a full size refrigerator.
  • Microwaves are located on the first floor of each residence hall by the front desk. Only approved Microfridges are allowed in student rooms.
  • Each room is allowed one small refrigerator, which must be 1.5 amps or less, no more than 36 inches tall, and grounded. You may bring your own, or rent one.
  • Campus Living & Learning has partnered with Collegiate Concepts, Inc. to provide on-campus residents the option to rent or purchase a MicrofridgeTM. Microfridges are all-in-one units that have a refrigerator, freezer and microwave.

Laundry Facilities

  • Laundry facilities are available in the basement.

Study Rooms

  • Study rooms are located in the basement lounge and on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.


  • One telephone line per room is provided.
  • Telephone instruments are not provided.
  • To call long distance students should purchase a calling card.
  • Your telephone number will be included with your room assignment information.


  • Residents may bring their own televisions. Cable TV is provided (one cable outlet per room).
  • Televisions may not be hung from walls.


  • All walls are painted cream. Resident may not paint the walls.
  • There are crevices from which "S" hooks may be inserted to hang items. Posters and pictures may be attached to the walls with white sticky-tack. Colored sticky-tack, nails, screws, and foam tapes are not allowed. Use of these items will result in fines at the end of the school year.


  • Curtains are best hung on tension rods inside the windows or on small rods held by "S" hooks that fit into the wall crevice above the window.
  • Mini-blinds are on all windows and must remain in place.
