Karen Ward is an ordained Episcopal priest who currently serves as curator of All Souls, 'PopUp Church,' a Fresh Expression ministry in Portland, OR (www.popupchurch.org). She is the founder of Anglimergent.org (a relational network of Anglicans engaging emerging church & mission) and the director of Mission Center (an emerging/ Fresh Expressions mission initiative and community providing mission training, resources and support for clergy and lay leaders). She served nine years (2002-2011) as founding Vicar of Church of the Apostles, and an Episcopal and Lutheran emerging church plant in Seattle, Washington. She desires to see "new churches and ministries that are 'native' within today's culture and capable of speaking into the brokenness, hurts and longings of our world, against injustice, poverty and oppression in our world, and nurturing the capacities for beauty, goodness, action and service within our cultures and our world."
She does event speaking, lecturing, and consulting on emerging/ fresh expressions of church, congregational mission, leadership for mission, emerging liturgy, and outreach to the next generations within in ‘great emergence culture.' She is coauthor of Listening to the Beliefs of Emerging Churches: Five Perspectives (Zondervan, 2007), and contributor to Rising from the Ashes: Rethinking Church (Seabury, 2007), and Ancient Faith, Future Mission: Fresh Expressions in the Sacramental Tradition (Canterbury Press, 2009).
