The University ranks first among the 73 American doctoral granting private institutions in the total number of baccalaureate recipients who have earned doctorates in the professional fields; following Baylor are Harvard, Columbia, Brigham Young, Cornell, Northwestern, New York University, Syracuse, Stanford, and the University of Pennsylvania. Baylor is also one of the oldest coeducational universities in the United States and one of six Phi Beta Kappa universities in Texas. Center faculty within the physics and mathematics departments, the School of Business, the School of Engineering, the School of Education and CASPER itself provide students the opportunity to pursue both the bachelor of science and bachelor of arts degrees in multiple disciplines.
