Men's Ultimate Frisbee
#1. Are there tryouts for your team?
Yes, we do have tryouts. We will have a week of open practice so that everyone can get acquainted, followed by a week of official tryouts where those hoping to make the team will be evaluated by the team's leadership during practice. Ultimate team leaders will be looking for hustle, basic ultimate skills, a high engagement level, and potential.
#2. How many days and hours a week do you practice?
We practice 3 days a week: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m.
#3. Typically where are your games/ practices held?
Our games and practices are held on the Baylor Intramural Fields and at times on the BSB Fields.
#4. What schools do you compete against? What league are you in?
We mainly compete against other schools in Texas, but will also face opponents from other states. We are in the North Texas Conference within the South Central Region. Our Region consists of schools from Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming and Texas.
#5. What are the dues for this club team?
Dues are normally $50 for the entire school year. Additionally, we will require members to register with USAU (USA Ultimate) and to buy their own jersey package, which usually costs around $80.
#6. When is your season? Do you practice in the off-season?
The focus of our season is the Spring because that is when USAU sanctioned tournaments begin. However, we practice, travel, and play in tournaments throughout both semesters of the school year.
#7. Do students need experience to join?
Students do not need experience to join, but it certainly helps. The only real requirements are basic athletic ability, a strong interest in Ultimate, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude. The rest will be taught as the season progresses.
