Three Fulbright Scholars Announced

With the support of the United States government and through binational partnerships with foreign governments, the Fulbright Scholarship Program sponsors U.S. and foreign participants for exchanges in all areas of endeavor, including the sciences, business, academe, public service, government, and the arts and continues to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.

Congratulations to Baylor students and alumni who have been selected to receive the Fulbright for 2018-2019 to date:

  • Amanda Braswell, BSN ’17, nurse at Medical City Dallas Fulbright award to India
  • John Ryan Isaacson, senior international studies major from Lubbock Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Germany
  • Sofia Sonner, senior biology major from South Pasadena, CA Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) to Taiwan
These students are the 52nd, 53rd, and 54th Fulbright recipients since 2001.

Fulbright ETAs are placed in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to local English teachers while also serving as cultural ambassadors for the United States.

The Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. It is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. Fulbright alumni have become heads of state, judges, ambassadors, cabinet ministers, CEOs and university presidents, as well as leading journalists, artists, scientists and teachers. Since its inception in 1946, more than 380,000 “Fulbrighters” have participated in the Program.
