Philosophy is a basic field of inquiry. It helps us have a framework by which we make decisions and consider ideas and issues in every part of the human experience. Philosophical methods and ideas can apply to a variety of situations in law, business, ethics, the arts and a wide spectrum of life and living.

The major in philosophy nurtures your skills in critical thinking, writing, speaking, reasoning and making sound arguments. The study of philosophy helps students to distinguish between good and bad reasoning, aids in clarifying, evaluating and justifying beliefs, and assists in developing a world view that brings order and meaning to one's experience.
