With a 10-team league beginning in 2011, the Big 12 football schedule will move from a divisional format to a nine-game league slate where each team plays one another each year, eliminating the conference championship game. Basketball, too, will do away with the north and south scheduling in favor of a double round-robin schedule where every team plays a home-and-away series with every other team.
New television deals have not yet been finalized, but each school is expected to approximately double its intake from previous deals. League officials say there are no current plans to expand the league (back to 12 teams or beyond), but that possibility does exist for the future.
