Dr. Richard Benjamin Goode, BA '37, died July 18 at the age of 93 in Washington, D.C. Goode was the only one of his immediate family to earn a college degree and went on to make extraordinary contributions to the field of economics. During his distinguished career, Goode served as consultant to the U.S. Treasury Department and the United Nations, taught at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Chicago, and directed the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund. Motivated by gratefulness for the scholarship support he received as a student, he established the Richard and Liesel Goode Endowed Academic Scholarship Fund and provided generously to numerous areas across the university.
