Sequence StratigraphySequence stratigraphy predicts the spatial distribution of sedimentary rock bodies as guided by an understanding of the cyclic natural processes that account for sediment accumulation through time. Sequence stratigraphy at Baylor includes applied petroleum exploration and production research, and pure research that investigates the relationship between cyclic sediment accumulations and both paleoclimate and tectonism. As such, sequence stratigraphic research at Baylor is closely allied with the Applied Petroleum Studies (APS) and Paleoclimatology/Paleopedology research programs.
