Clay Butler, Lecturer of English and Linguistics, received a B.A. from Baylor University in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. His areas of interest are linguistic pragmatics (i.e., how language is used in actual conversations), sociolinguistics (i.e., how society and social identity influence language choices), and culture (i.e., how language and culture interact). |
