A Baylor student living off campus reported last evening that two men tried to force her into a car against her will at the 1800 block of S. 2nd Street. She successfully resisted and the car drove away.
When traveling by foot, campus police advise students to always choose routes that will keep them in well-lit areas. As much as possible, especially in the evening, students on and off campus should always travel in pairs and groups. Students observing concerning or suspicious behavior on or near the campus are encouraged to contact Baylor Police at (254) 710-2222.

Around 9:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, near the intersection of Eighth Street and Bagby Avenue, a suspect - described as a black male, 5'4" tall, slender build and wearing a blue-and-white jacket with lettering - approached a male victim with a handgun and was last seen running west on Bagby.
Police continue to remind students to be alert to their surroundings and to not place themselves in an isolated situation regardless of whether they are on or off campus. Should students observe something suspicious in nature on or near the campus, they are encouraged to contact Baylor Police at (254) 710-2222.

Waco and Baylor Police are investigating two home invasion armed robberies that occurred the morning of April 19th near Baylor campus at Fifth and Daughtrey and the 2300 block of South University Parks Drive.
Police said two armed African-American males, described as in their 20s between 5'9" to 6" tall, had knocked on the doors of both apartments and were let in by the residents, who were Baylor students. The residents were then robbed.
Police advise students to make sure they know who is at the door before opening it to unknown persons. If you don't know who it is, don't open the door.

Baylor and Waco Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 10:35 p.m. at 12th Street and Bagby Avenue near the Baylor campus. The suspect in the robbery is described as a black male, mid to late 20s, with a small beard and wearing dark clothing. The suspect displayed a small handgun and demanded money from a Baylor student, who was walking to a car.
Police continue to remind students to be alert to their surroundings and to not place themselves in an isolated situation regardless of whether they are on or off campus. Baylor and Waco Police are investigating a robbert that occurred shortly before 7 a.m. today at the Baylor Arms Apartments, 1500 S. 9th St. The robbery victim, a Baylor student, was struck by an assailant but did not need medical attention.
The suspects are described as two black males in their mid 20s, ones described as 5'8" and wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, the other 5'10" and wearing a dark shirt and pants. They were last seen running toward Speight Avenue on Ninth Street.
Police continue to remind students to be alert to their surroundings and to not place themselves in an isolated situation regardless of whether they are on or off campus. Baylor and Waco Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 8:10 a.m. today at the La Mirage Apartments, 909 Baylor Ave. The suspect in the robbery was last seen on Baylor Ave. headed west toward 10th Street. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'8", in his mid-20's with a goatee beard/mustache and was seen wearing a black/gray jacket and blue jeans.
The victim in the robbery was not a Baylor student and was not injured in the incident.

Baylor University is alerting the Baylor community of a series of armed robberies that have occurred recently in the vicinity of the university. Waco Police have provided information that indicates four armed robberies have taken place on the Western edge of the campus since Oct. 15. Each incident involves a handgun of an unknown type. The incidents have occurred at the following locations: 1) 1300 block of S. 11th Street at 11:32 p.m. on Oct. 15; 2) 1100 block of S. 8th Street (near Common Grounds) at 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 24; 3) 1400 block of S. 11th Street at 11:03 p.m. on Oct. 27; and 4) at S. 9th and Speight Avenue at 2:53 a.m. on Oct. 30. In this latest incident no weapon was displayed.
The suspect in three of the incidents is a lone black male, 5’6” to 5’8” around 150 lbs. thin build between 20-25 years old wearing a dark colored hoodie, blue jeans and red t-shirt under the hoodie. One other suspect in the latest incident at Speight and 9th Street is a black male very similar in size to the other listed suspect. Both were wearing dark colored hoodies. In the first three incidents, there were no injuries, however in the Oct. 30 incident, the victim was struck in the face but no injury occurred.
Baylor Police advise all within the Baylor community to be alert to these events and to not walk or jog alone. When pulling into a parking lot, take a moment to survey the immediate area to ensure that no one is approaching you or lurking nearby. Should you be confronted by a robbery suspect, submit to the suspect’s request without being confrontational, and at the earliest possible moment, contact Baylor Police at (254) 710-2222 or Waco Police at 9-1-1. The Baylor Police Department is fully staffed 24/7, and officers are working in cooperation with Waco Police on this matter.

Baylor officials issued a campus-wide alert by text, phone and e-mail late Monday night that said, “Two black males, 1 wearing a black shirt & 1 wearing a white shirt, armed and thought to be on campus. Please remain inside until further notice."
The university issued an all clear at around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.

On Oct. 22, 2010, at approximately 2 a.m., a Baylor student sitting on the bed of his pickup truck was approached by an unknown Hispanic male at the intersection of S. 7th Street and Daughtrey and was robbed of a small amount of cash. The suspect indicated he had a knife but never displayed it to the victim. The student was unharmed and the suspect, left in black or dark blue Ford Crown Victoria. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’8” tall and weighing approximately 200 lbs. No age estimate was available. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2010, a robbery occurred at 2014 S. 2nd St. at the Baylor Plaza III apartments. A Baylor student answered the door to find two males brandishing small silver handguns. The two males entered the apartment and took some clothing, food, and miscellaneous items from the victim. The Baylor student was not injured during the robbery. The suspects are as follows: a white male, 5'10", 170 lbs., unshaven with short brown hair, in his early 20's dressed in all black; a black male, 6'0", 200 lbs., wearing a black hooded mask and a long sleeve black sweatshirt. Both suspects were wearing gloves. Baylor police are investigating the case and seek information from anyone who might have seen individuals fitting this description in the area of 2014 S. 2nd St. during the late night and early morning hours of October 3rd and 4th. Students are reminded to keep your doors locked and DO NOT open the door unless you know who the person on the other side is. Students should be vigilant and alert to situations where people are observed loitering in parking lots and when walking by themselves and to move without delay from your vehicle to your apartment or other destination. ANYTIME you sense that something may be wrong, keep in mind, it just may be. Contact the Baylor Police Department at (254) 710-2222 at any hour of the day or night.

An armed robbery has occurred near the campus at the Speight Jenkins Apartments at approximately 9:15 on, Sept. 18, 2010. A black male suspect using what appeared to be a shotgun, robbed a BU student and his friend at his apartment. No injuries occurred and the suspect left in an unknown direction from the scene of the robbery. The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20's, approximately 5'8" tall and a medium build. He was wearing a black ball cap with a red bandanna, black shirt and what appeared to be black cut off sweat pants. Students are advised to use extreme caution and be mindful of your surroundings and to contact the Baylor police at 710-2222 if you observe anyone fitting this description. Baylor police and Waco police are providing heavy patrols in the area. The investigation is ongoing.

On Dec. 9, 2009, at approximately 7:04 p.m., a Baylor student was assaulted and robbed of his wallet in the 1500 block of South 4th Street behind the Albritton House. The victim, an 18-year-old freshman male student, suffered minor injuries which did not require his hospitalization. The suspects are two unknown males; both wearing dark clothing and one may have had on a leather type of dark jacket. Both suspects were wearing black knit caps (stocking caps). The victim could not provide any other information as to the height, weight or race of the suspects. The suspects ran south on 4th Street to Hopkins Alley where they disappeared. Baylor police searched the area but did not find the suspects. The incident is being investigated by

- Don't provide an opportunity for a criminal act to occur by being careless with your property books, purse, laptops, etc.)
- Those using the Bear Trail, or other areas of our campus for exercise, should do so in the company of a friend.
- When traveling by foot in or around our campus, choose routes that will keep you in well-lit areas.
- Students are encouraged to walk in pairs and to be cognizant of their surroundings, especially during the hours of darkness.
Please contact the Baylor police at (254) 710-2222 if you see what you interpret to be suspicious activity. Do not be of the mindset that you don’t want to trouble the police. They are here to ensure your safety.
The most important thing of all is to avoid isolating yourself. As far as you are able, always travel in pairs or groups.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2008 a female Baylor University Student was the victim of a carjacking near campus in the 1500 block of James Street.
The student was approached by two men described as an Hispanic male, around 20 years old, 5'6" to 5'8" tall, wearing a dark "hoodie" and a white tank top, and a black male, unknown height, medium build, 20 to 25 years old, wearing a light gray "hoodie" and red shorts.
Police said the suspects forced the student into her own car at gun point at that location and drove her to another part of town, where they robbed her. The suspects used a small silver gun, possibly a revolver, in the incident. She was able to escape and sought help at a nearby residence. She was treated and released at a local hospital.
After her escape, the suspects abandonded her vehicle, which was recovered by Waco police on a nearby street. The suspects have not been apprehended nor are they identified at this time.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2007, Baylor Police responded to a home invasion within the faculty housing area, specifically the 300 block of Guittard. The suspects gained entry by kicking in the back door of the residence. The suspects are described as possibly two black males, average size, possibly in their 20's, one wearing gray pants, a white shirt with a shirt (possibly braided) ponytail hairstyle. Addiditonal reports and leads indicate a possible suspect vehicle may be a dark blue or black compact car, occupied by five or six black males. A partial license plate on this vehicle may be 765-KZ.

02/09/2011 at 10:49 p.m. Baylor community alerted to a robbery that had occurred at the Dairy Queen on LaSalle Ave. The suspects involved were described as a Hispanic male wearing black clothing and was last seen running on 3rd St., toward campus.
